Happy New year and welcome again to 2013. We pray that this will be a year that you will always remember with great joy and laughter concerning all areas of your life, including your marriage.
One thing we all do, consciously or subconsciously, at the beginning of every year is to make resolutions or plans on what we want to acheive during the year or changes we intend to make. A new year always feels like starting on a new page and having a new lease of life with opportunities to change things.
Whilst we make resolutions concerning ourselves. I hope you remembered to make resolutions or plans for your marriage for the new year. If you haven’t, it is not too late to make one.
Whether you call it a “new year resolution” or something else, and whether you make it before or after New Year’s day, it’s important that you have hopes, dreams, desires and aspirations for every area of your life and your marriage and family for the year. The only way you can measure if you made progress or not is by setting goals that you can work towards..
A possible aim could be that this year you decide to make your marriage a “marriage fit for champions”. You decide to build a great marriage with your spouse and also champion the cause for good marriages together. A “marriage fit for champions” is one which will bring joy to both of you and inspire others around you. How you go about it depends on the state your marriage is currently in and it requires a lot of self-belief in your ability to achieve it and great commitment to see you through.
In my ebook, “Building a Marriage fit for Champions“, I look at the attributes that make Olympic champions and how you can apply these attributes to your marriage to become champions indeed.
The starting point is belief though, You must believe that it is possible for you to enjoy your marriage. No matter what the situation is currently, it is possible to have a great marriage.
Jesus confirms the importance of believing in the text from Mark 9:23 above – “anything is possible if a person believes”. The minimum requirement is for “a person” to believe!. It obviously works better if two (husband and wife) or more people can believe. So regardless of what state your marriage is, the belief of one of you can change things.
If you are already having a wonderful marriage, you can make it even greater and if your marriage is not going in line with your dreams, you can change it as long as you believe – because anything is possible!
For nothing is impossible with God – Luke 1:37
Have the self belief to work towards your plans, and let it be rooted in God’s ability to make all things possible.
This year, we hope your dreams for your marriage comes through and that you and your family have a great year.
We wish you the best of 2013!
