Sex is an important aspect of marriage and definitely one of the building blocks for a marriage fit for champions! Did you include any resolutions about your lovemaking as part of your plans for the new year e.g. Do you plan to have more sex, better sex or greater sex this year – or less sex just in case you are already having too much! By the way, we all agree that all sex is with your spouse!
According to Durex’ Sexual Wellbeing Global Survey 07/08, a lot of us simply aren’t satisfied. Only 38% of us have sex as often as we’d like but 3 in 5 of us believe that sex is fun, enjoyable and a vital part of life.
The survey included frequency of sex and satisfaction levels was conducted with 26,000 online interviews worldwide in 26 countries. Greeks had most frequent sex with 87% and Nigerians were the most sexually satisfied at 67%. Well done to both countries!
The main point I want to draw from the survey though is the fact that, Sex is fun, enjoyable and a vital part of married life. It’s meant to be enjoyed by husband and wife and should be a good building block for a great marriage. But sex is also often a source of conflicts within a marriage when both parties can’t agree on how often to make love, or how to make it fun and enjoyable
The Bible confirms the importance of sex to marriage. In 1st Corinthians, the Apostle Paul writes,”Do not deprive each other of sexual relations, unless you both agree to refrain from sexual intimacy for a limited time so you can give yourselves more completely to prayer. Afterward, you should come together again so that Satan won’t be able to tempt you because of your lack of self-control”. – 1 Corinthians 7:5 NLT.
There is also an interesting story in Genesis 18, three men appeared to Abraham and while Abraham was entertaining them,
“… one of them said, “I will return to you about this time next year, and your wife, Sarah, will have a son!”
Sarah was listening to this conversation from the tent. Abraham and Sarah were both very old by this time, and Sarah was long past the age of having children. So she laughed silently to herself and said, “How could a worn-out woman like me enjoy such pleasure, especially when my master—my husband—is also so old?” – Genesis 18: 10 – 12 New Living Translation,
Sarah definitely was not referring to childbirth as “such pleasure”! Even though she had not yet had a child, she must have seen enough childbirth to know that the process in not a pleasurable one. This means she must have been referring to sex with Abraham, her husband, and we can assume that sex between the two of them was a pleasurable experience.
We believe you are all having great sex and “enjoying such pleasure” with your spouse but this week we are going to help two couples spice up their marriage even further by giving away two copies of the 31 Days to Great Sex ebook by Sheila Wray Gregoire.
The book is intended for married couples who want to experience real intimacy and ecstasy in the bedroom.
There are 31 days of readings and challenges which will help married couples rebuild intimacy, rediscover fun, and achieve great fireworks.
